Dear students,
It is very well known that special education plays a crucial role for the individuals with special needs who need to earn the skills for an independent life and claim their place in this world. For effective special education, there must be qualified, unselfish, and idealist teachers who is competent in constructing a mutual understanding between these individuals and the society. In this regard Program of Education of Mentally Challenged has been serving since 2005 within the Department of Special Education of Sakarya University. With our young and qualified staff, we do our best to increase the quality of our teachers.
Department of education of individuals with intellectual disabilities is one of the attractive and promising professions of our time. Our program in SAU offers graduates good working opportunities in state schools, special education and rehabilitation centers, guidance and research centers. They can also start their own special education center. If they prefer, they can pursue an academic career in the field of special education both in Turkey and abroad. It should not be forgotten that apart from mentally disabled, graduates have opportunity to work with different special education categories (i.e. autism spectrum disorder).
Besides the job opportunities, and among the attractive aspects of this program are the Erasmus Program as an opportunity to study abroad and the occasional seminars given by experts in the field.
