Mission and Vision

This program aims to train devoted and idealistic teachers who can provide quality education to individuals in need of special education and who can provide the training and coordination support necessary for the integration of individuals with special needs into society. The students of the department specialize in the methods and techniques that support the participation of people with special needs in life as independent individuals. The department provides quality education specific to the types of disability and the needs of the individual.

Special education graduates can be employed as special education teachers in primary and secondary special education schools affiliated to the Turkish Ministry of National Education, special education classes opened in primary and secondary schools, rehabilitation centers, and guidance and research centers.

Opportunities Provided By The Program

The students in the program can pursue a double major with the Departments of Theology, Primary School Mathematics Education, Preschool Education, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Primary Education and Social Work.

The Department also offers a minor program in Special Education to Sakarya University students. There are ERASMUS agreements with Bulgaria, Czechia, Netherlands, Spain, Poland and Romania, and MEVLANA foreign exchange agreements with Kazakhstan and Jordan. The department also has agreements with various universities in Turkey as part of the FARABI program.
